The Alabama Swim School is led by renowned swim instructor Rafael Cadena. Certified by the elite United States Swimming Association and a member of the American Swimming Coaches Association, United States Swimming, World Swimming Coaches Association, American Red Cross. He has 44  years and 82,000 hours of swimming education, instruction and coaching experience. Coaching all ages and levels of swimmers from 8 months to 81+ years old including previously swimmers achievements to mention few. Sectional, Top 16, High School, All-American and NCAA qualifying swimmers – Six of Coach Rafael’s previous students have qualified for the Olympic Trials on 2012 & 2016

Coach Rafael coaching and teaching in Mexico City for one of the larger's swimming schools in Mexico named Acuatica Nelson Vargas who develop over so many years national and elite swimmers from every every age group also under his command his swimmers are the best of the best also he was continue working with a fundamental swim school kids from babies to adults and special needs participants working at the ANV from 1980 to 1999

Although he was a former head coach of the LJCC Summer Swim Team he has served as Head Coach of the Birmingham Country Club of Birmingham, Magic City Aquatic League, Meridian Swimming Association, Hoover Blue Thunder, and Summer HBT. (Click on Coach’s Bio to see all credentials)

COACH: RAFAEL CADENA a is a full certified swim coach and Instructor with over more than 44 years experience teaching and coaching hundreds of swimmers from beginners to swimmers who qualify to the Olympic Trails in 2012 and 2016

*USA Swimming s charged with selecting the United States Olympic Swimming Team, holds the highest standards, and this certification requires Athlete Protection Training, background check, Foundations of Coaching, and certifications from the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA), and the World Swimming Coaches Association (WSCA). Coach Rafael Cadena’s licenses are renewed every year.

Coach Rafael’s certifications, licenses, track record and accomplishments speak for themselves. A gifted coach and instructor he is not only passionate about bringing out the best in every swimmer, but making it fun and safe, and having a wonderful experience along the way.
